2nd
Year Events students Joey McLoughlin and Holly Pressley have been successful in
gaining places on the prestigious School of Business and School of Management
LaunchPad leadership development programme.
The
programme is designed to provide students with opportunities to enhance their
professional skills allowing them to become the global leaders of the
future. LaunchPad students learn about
the challenges of the current job market from employer and graduate
perspectives and the leadership approaches needed to address them, in both
theory and practice. The programme includes a mixture of workshops, events,
high profile speakers and company visits.
The
application process was very intense with candidates going through a series of
exercises including an in-tray test; psychometric tests; creation and pitch of
a business idea; personal pitch and interview with senior managers from
industry. Joey and Holly have joined a
cohort of just 20 from across the two Schools.
Both students are very proud of their success:
Joey
says: 'Considering
the success and reputation the LaunchPad programme already has, I'm more than
overwhelmed to secure a place. It is a very competitive programme, so it was
such a relief to be successful, I couldn't have been happier. Now it's time to
acquire new skills and embrace every opportunity over the next
two years, and I’m looking forward to what my end results will
be'.
Holly
is already seeing the benefits: ‘LaunchPad
is an amazing opportunity that I am lucky to be a part of after the intense
assessment centre challenges. I feel I have already gained confidence
after these challenges which is helping me not just at university.’
Nice Post!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see their successes! Over here in Singapore there's quite a few successful Event Planners who have come from similar backgrounds.
