Luciana secures exciting Events role

Student employability is a key element of our Event Management courses.

Luciana Capaldi is in an enviable position, having already secured a role as an Events Assistant for Radio Travel ahead of graduating later this week with a First Class Honours Degree.

Having spent the first few weeks working on sourcing venues, Luciana is now planning events and liaising with travel agents and hoteliers, and is currently on a nationwide UK tour with representatives from Barbados Tourism to promote the country as a tourism destination.

Using an adapted former Formula 1 Hospitality coach as a base, and working with Capital FM Radio, Luciana organises Caribbean themed events with appropriate food and entertainment at each venue, and facilitates meetings between British travel agents and holiday companies and Barbadian hoteliers, tourism managers and event organisers.

Part-way into the tour, Luciana has now taken over as Tour Manager, which is a great achievement for someone who has not yet officially graduated. Luciana’s tour, which started in London, will end at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow at the end of July.

Her next project is very different, as she will be helping to organise the Manchester Family Pet Show at Media City, which has hundreds of pet-related stalls and attractions. This event takes place in October, but with so many exhibitors to organise planning is already well under way.

Luciana loves her new job: "University built my confidence as an Event Manager, because it taught me the theory of events and I had the chance to organise some live events. Doing this job is now putting all of my learning into practice. I’m so happy."
