Students help Rock FM lights switch-on

We encourage undergraduates to gain as much practical experience as they can, so when local radio station Rock FM asked for volunteers to help at their Christmas lights switch-on event, 2nd Year Event students Gabby Roberts and Georgie Rainford were quick to put themselves forward.

In addition to the switch-on ceremony there were fireworks, food and craft stalls plus of course Santa Claus, and Georgie and Gabby were soon put to work as Santa's elves - helping to look after some very excited children and Santa himself. This is all part of the infinite variety a job in the events industry can offer.

The orgainsers were delighted with Gabby and Georgie saying "they made most excellent elves" and were "a credit to the university."

UCLan has recently developed links with Rock FM and in Semester Two 1st Year students will be organising a series of live events to raise money for the Rock FM 'Cash for Kids' charity which provides a helping hand to disabled and disadvantaged children across Lancashire.
