The Guild Hall was taken over by The Villa Group towards the end of 2014 and they've subsequently been working on renovating the building and introducing new events, shops and places to eat and drink.
UCLan Events and PR students helped organise the launch, which was a chance for local businesses to network and learn about the Guild Hall's forthcoming events, shows and future plans. There was also the chance to sample some of the delicious food from the new Mundo Tapas restaurant.
The Division of Tourism, Hospitality and Events has very strong links with The Villa Group and now Guild Promotions. Lucy Hodge graduated from UCLan with a degree in Tourism in 2011 and is Head of Marketing and Sales for The Villa Group.
Susan Burns, who also graduated from UCLan in 2011, but with a degree in PR and Event Management, has recently been appointed General Manager at Guild Promotions Ltd. She is responsible for booking and promoting music events at the Guild Hall, and works as Event Manager for the Katy Holmes Trust North West Pride Awards.
Events undergraduate Georgie Rainford is currently on a 48-week placement with the Villa Group and divides her time between Villa at Preston North End FC and the Guild Hall, whilst Andy Loynes and Anna Buckley work for Guild Promotions on a part-time voluntary basis to gain valuable industry experience.
They are also helping with the organisation of the high-profile Katy Holmes Trust Awards Ceremony, which will proudly celebrate the achievements of outstanding and hugely inspirational individuals from across the North West.
Susan warmly praised the UCLan students for their continuing hard work and professionalism during her presentation at the launch event.
